The Brunton pocket transit has been the geologist's most trusted tool since 1896, combining the principles of the surveyor's compass, prismatic compass, clinometer, hand level, and plumb. It is available in the traditional styles plus the ComPro 90 composite series.

ComPro 90

Brunton has utilized the best in modern materials and manufacturing techniques to create the ComPro 90, the first all new Brunton in over 90 years. It has all of the features that have made Brunton the world's most popular pocket transit, plus numerous improvements. It features a rare earth magnet, the patented "International" needle suspension, magnetic dampening, waterproof construction, improved lift mechanism and lightweight state-of-the-art molded composite compass body. It comes complete with leather carrying case and is available with 0-360 deg. or 0-90 quadrant graduations.

International and Conventional Models

These are the original-design aluminum body pocket transits. The 5000 series features the "International" jeweled needle suspension which allows the compass to be used in a wide range of latitudes without balancing and has a lifetime suspension guarantee. The 2000 series features conventional needle suspension requiring balancing for a specific latitude range.

Tripod Ball & Socket Head

This yoke is used for mounting the pocket transit to the Brunton Tripod, the Telescoping Jacob Staff (below) or any non-magnetic tripod or staff with a 1/4"-20 threaded attachment. It is designed to clamp securely into the slots on the sides of the transit.

Brunton Cadet Training Transit

The Cadet is a complete, inexpensive pocket transit designed as a training aid for geology students. It has azimuth graduations in both quadrant and 0-360 degrees formats (2 degree graduations). It can measure vertical angles up to 90 degrees and weighs only 3 ounces. Its case is gray polypropylene.
