The Estwing E30 Leather Grip rock hammer is nearly the same as the Estwing E3-22P. The difference here is that this hammer has a leather handle rather than the vinyl, rubber one. This leather grip is made of leather “O” rings that are pressed and riveted to the shaft. The whole handle is then laminated and factory-coated with a varnish for maximum protection. The hammer itself is fully polished and is forged from one piece of steel.
The positive aspect of this hammer is that the leather grip makes is aesthetically pleasing; however, with the brownish color, it is easy to forget in the field since it blends in well. Over time and with continual use, the laminated leather handle will also wear off.
